Cortona Delights

A young, Cortonese girl vehemently enjoying her pane (bread).  This adorable child was so unassuming that it took her about 30 seconds to realize that the artist was actually looking at her.  Until then, she seemed to look right through him, wondering what he was so interested in, but never relinquishing her two-fisted grip on that delicious piece of bread.  This inquisitive gaze is the subject of this painting.  Upon realizing that she was the object of his attention, she broke into an enormous smile, capturing his heart and sealing her fate as the subject of at least one painting.
